چکیده

Abstract PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE Posterior fossa ependymoma group A (PF-EPN-A) is a poor prognostic subgroup, predominantly seen in infants and young children. Among all ependymomas, most of the recurrences are patients with PF-EPN-A subgroup. Despite advances neurosurgery postoperative adjuvant therapy, management these tumors remains challenging, recurrence occurs over 50% cases. In this study, we aimed to evaluate pattern relapse PF-EPN-A. MATERIALS AND METHODS The clinical features, treatment strategies patterns diagnosed treated at Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto have been evaluated retrospectively. RESULTS Seventy-five were from 01 June 1996 2022. All surgery +/- focal radiation chemotherapy after diagnosis. Out 75 patients, 38 (50.6%) had recurrent disease. Twenty-three (60.5%) local while 15 (40.5) experienced distant relapse. 23 who relapse, only 8 (34%) developed gross total resection (GTR). Other either subtotal (STR) or near (nTR). 10 (66%) GTR. Time was mean 32 months (11-132 months) GTR 24 (1-98 STR /nTR. CONCLUSIONS modern approach (more aggressive early conformal radiotherapy) changed classical dogma that “nearly relapses local’’ series. This study supported importance also demonstrated tends recur more on sites rather than locally when initial surgical intervention

Extraaxial ependymoma of the posterior fossa.

We report an unusual case of an extraaxial ependymoma of the posterior fossa in an adult. MR imaging showed a heterogeneously enhancing extraaxial mass with a cystic component. Ependymoma should be included in the differential diagnosis of uncommon extraaxial masses of the posterior fossa.

Treatment implications of posterior fossa ependymoma subgroups

Posterior fossa ependymoma comprises two distinct molecular entities, ependymoma_posterior fossa A (EPN_PFA) and ependymoma_posterior fossa B (EPN_PFB), with differentiable gene expression profiles. As yet, the response of the two entities to treatment is unclear. To determine the relationship between the two molecular subgroups of posterior fossa ependymoma and treatment, we studied a cohort o...

Posterior Fossa Ependymoma: Unusual Extension into the Internal Auditory Canal in a 32-year-old Woman

Ependymomas are relatively rare glial neoplasms that arise from ependymal cells. The majority of cases (>75%) arise from the fourth ventricle in the posterior fossa. These tumours may expand locally, extend along subarachnoid spaces, and disseminate through the cerebrospinal fluid. Sometimes, they may extend into the cerebellopontine angle and mimic the clinicoradiological appearance of an extr...

MR Imaging of pial melanosis secondary to a posterior fossa melanotic ependymoma.

A 36-year-old man presented with trouble speaking and bilateral progressive hearing loss. MR imaging and histopathologic results revealed a posterior fossa melanotic ependymoma. Pial surfaces appeared hyperintense on T1-weighted images and hypointense on T2-weighted images. Histopathologic examination revealed that tumor cells and interstitial spaces had abundant melanin accumulation. There was...
